I had a rough time with this week’s song. Probably because I got too ambitious on going off-time for the choruses. Not to mention hardware questions i haven’t addressed properly. In the end, i wound up cutting up and stitching together pieces of the song from parts that weren’t as terrible as others. It happens.

I upgraded the computer and expanded my interface and this is the first track written with the new setup. The theme was “House by the Lake” so I went with a 80s slasher movie vibe. I’ve also solidified my schedule so that I plan to stream 2HTS every sunday and a new series called Mix with the Schlubs every Friday at 6pm EDT.

I’m still streaming my 2HTS on Twitch at twitch.tv/urinalpooper if you want to watch me fail at every kind of technology! I’m upgrading my equipment slowly so there’s always a learning curve but eventually i should have a setup that i can reliably stream from w/o it impacting my ability to actually… compose.

Anyway, w/o further ado…

The first track was from a theme where they randomized a list of genres and everyone was assigned two. I was given Post Rock and Country.

The second was a more straightforward theme ‘Praying Mantis’.

So I’ve started streaming on Friday nights a new series called Mix with the Schlubs (a play on ‘Mix with the Masters’) and while I’m still getting the hang of having the audio on the stream be usable I’m presenting the finished product here for your A/B listening “““enjoyment”””. In the first two episodes we remixed and remastered a 2HTS track I did back in July of 2020 called “With the Mask Off”

Next up, we have the unmastered remix, the only difference between this mp3 and the WAV I fed into the mastering chain is that it’s been normalized.

Again, I want to note that in actual reality, you always want to have someone else master your tracks if you can afford it. I’ll leave the comments on if there’s another 2HTS track they’d like to see redone on the stream. The original video can be found, at least for 30 days or so, on twitch.tv/urinalpooper

They gave me a theme of ‘cell’… so I had to make it about a sperm cell. Because I have to stay on brand darnit. Anyway, I also streamed the creation of this song on Twitch, though I’m still figuring out the lighting and the micing and the remembering to talk while I’m staring at EQ plugins trying to make tweaks.
