Things That Irritate me

It irritates me that Room B runs on a cheap 12-input mixing board going into a Scarlett 2i4i and yet somehow it sounds better than Room A with the prosumer gear.

It also irritates me when Apple auto-updates Logic and decides to make it incompatible with their own Logic Remote Controller. So if you’re wondering why the drums come in a bit later it’s because i had to record and walk to the other side of the room, get behind the kit and try to come in at the right time. In Room A I can reach the R key on the keyboard with one of the drumsticks.

Anyway, this week we got a theme of “Blasphemy” so I made a little ditty you can find over in Punk. And yeah the chords i used in the chorus is that same stupid descending C-B-Bb-A i keep falling back on. Weird.

Room B in a Snow Storm

We’re snowed in! And it just keeps coming down. We had a theme of ‘Megastructure’ and I wrote a song that is technically just about a giant ziggurat in the sky. So i put it in punk. That might be false advertising if you start looking at subtext and metaphors, but that would be the product of your own filthy mind.

Room B

I decided to finally quit slacking and set up the room TCB uses for rehearsing into a second studio room. I haven’t felt this slap-dash since the earliest 2HTS tracks back in my apartment with the Alesis electronic kit. This room has one of those smaller QuestLove kits, all the amps are solid state, the mixing board is ‘garage-sale bargain’ quality and I’m using my original Scarlett 2i4. Come to think of it, the AT-2035 is also leftover from the old setup. And mixed everything on headphones because I don’t have monitors down here. We had a theme of Eulogy and I did the best I could in the new setup. It’s over in Punk.
