Wigs are being flipped

…but only because that was this week’s theme. Specifically “Wig”. I gave the 404 a break but wrote it by laying down a synth arp, then recording drums, then bass and finally guitar. There’s also some odd key changes and other ‘outside my usual’ attempts to try something new. It sounds identical to most of my stuff outside of the sound design. I didn’t know where to put it so into Punk it goes…

A new kind of smooth jazz

It was met with disappointment when I didn’t use the 404 last week. So I made a beat with it and then put that into Logic, where all kinds of nonsense occurred. The theme was “briefcase” and I ran out of time before I could run the whole thing back into the 404 and then back into the DAW for mastering. Maybe I’ll do that at a later time. Anyway, you can hear the track over in Jazz.

Back to my usual for a bit

I’ve hated the songs I’ve done on the SP404 so far… I think because I’m still getting the hang of when a track is “done”. (note: it never is, infinite remixing). Anyway, we got a theme of Instant Noodles and rather than make more garbage I’m too embarrassed to upload in ‘Garbage’, I decided to make my usual schlock punk rock. The lyrics are clean so it’s in under the Punk genre.

And a belated Happy New Year!!

I’ve started using an SP-404MKII and, well, it’s an instrument. It’d be no different than me deciding to spend a few weeks learning the trumpet. So I’ve been putting the last couple of creations into “Garbage”.

I’m currently procrastinating on hanging a black sheet and punching a bunch (hundreds? thousands?) of holes in it to hang as a backdrop for some upcoming chromakey nonsense I have planned.

Merry Christmas!!

…and a Happy New Year! TCB added a short Christmas special to mark the holiday season:

The full version of Special K’s country rendition of “Egg Nog and Family” may be found on the Christmas page. I’m hoping to spend the next week working on a new skit featuring Hank, Steamer and the rest of the gang but we’ll see how long it actually takes to complete all of that.
